Every since reports initially surfaced suggesting that Cody Franson was a must move before the trade deadline, the Leafs have been at the center of trade rumors around the NHL. The move makes sense, the Leafs are reportedly refusing to meet the asking price of Franson and his agent and by all accounts he will test the free agent market at the end of this season. Multiple teams have inquired about his availability notably Los Angeles, Detroit, Edmonton, Calgary and more. However a recent comments from Patt Leggs of Sirius/XM radio would suggest that the Leafs asking price may be much too high for any teams to truly have any level of interest in Franson. According to Leggs, the Leafs are asking for a young roster player and a 1st round pick in exchange for the right handed shooting defenseman. The Leafs could simply posturing for the best possible deal, but it's hard to believe that a team would be willing to give up so much for a player they can't guarantee will be part of their roster long term.
