Toronto Maple Leafs second round draft pick in 2016 Carl Grundstrom has remained in Sweden since being drafted but that may be about to change.

Sportsnet Insider John Shannon is now reporting that the Maple Leafs are expected to sign Grundstrom to an entry-level National Hockey League contract, although it's unclear if he will immediately join the Leafs roster or if he's destined for seasoning in the American Hockey League.

Grundstrom has spent his last three season in the Swedish Hockey League, most recently playing for Frolunda HC this season. In the 2016-2017 campaign he has 44 games played for Frolunda and recorded 12 goals and 6 assists for a total of 18 points and a plus minus rating of +4 over that stretch.
