Report: Leafs’ Matthews on the shelf?

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews is one of the brightest young stars in the NHL, so it’s no surprise that he was invited by the NHLPA to represent the players at the NHLPA Player Tour media event in New York City. However, news broke this morning that Matthews would be unable to attend, due to illness.

Ugh… that’s awful. Here’s hoping Matthews can get over his illness as quickly as possible so that it doesn’t affect his training for the upcoming season. The young superstar is looking to build off an incredible rookie season in which he not only put up 40 goals and 69 points, but he also lead the Leafs back into the postseason for the first time since 2013.
