It seems that Vinny Lecavalier has had enough of playing for the Flyers and will do pretty much anything to get out of a Flyers uniform. That includes early retirement. On Tuesday TSN's Darren Dreger stated on Insider Trading that Lecavalier was considering his options moving forward and that he is considering retiring at the end of next season. Whether this was a ploy by Lecavalier to up his trade value or not remains to be seen. Well yesterday more details emerged on Lecavalier's state of mind at the moment. Dreger was on TSN 1260 yesterday and had some news on the 34 year old center's future. “Vincent Lecavalier, it’s no secret he wants out. He’s been minimized to a fourth-line winger for the Philadelphia Flyers. Nothing personal with Craig Berube, but obviously Berube doesn’t appreciate whatever Lecavalier can bring." Apparently the main reason for Lecavalier's desire to retire is his family. "And my sense is that he’s going to pack it in after next year. He has three young kids and he wants to spend time with his young family. So he wants to play out this year, play one more year. So maybe there’s enough in his game to entice some type of trade where the Philadelphia Flyers can just move the body. But that’s how bad it’s getting in Philadelphia." It remains to be seen whether Ron Hextall will be able to move Lecavalier before the season is out, but if he can not, and Lecavalier retires, the Flyers would save $4.5 million dollars towards the cap over the next two seasons. That could go a long way towards resigning stars like Jake Voracek.
