Report: Linden adresses Sedin trade rumors
Keystone Press

In a sit down, one-on-one interview with Vancouver Canucks president Trevor Linden, Sportsnet’s John Shannon uncovered the team’s plan for longtime Canucks Henrik and Daniel Sedin. The 37-year-old identical Swedish twins may not be the players that they once were, but they’re both productive players and, given that the Canucks are in the middle of a rebuild and a youth movement, they could be valuable players to a Stanley Cup contender. Just… don’t hold your breath on them being dealt anytime soon, if ever.

Smart move by Linden and the Canucks. Not necessarily to hold on to the twins, but by addressing the rumors and trade speculation, they can effectively shut down and distractions that might exist for the players or the team during the season.

Then again, never say never. Stranger things have happened and circumstances are always changing in the NHL. If a GM came to the Canucks with an offer that they couldn’t refuse, would the team soften their stance on trading Henrik and Daniel? It’s far too early too tell, but at least now for the time being, the Sedins are NOT on the trade market.
