With the Oilers currently occupying second to last place in the league, it is fair to assume they will have at least a fair chance at winning the NHL Draft Lottery. Which would more than likely mean the Oilers would select Connor McDavid.
Unfortunately for the Oil, General manager Craig MacTavish revealed Tuesday that he's willing to deal a to-be-determined 18-year-old prospect selected in June's draft. His goal would be to acquire a player further along in the process.
“We’d be willing to make a deal to get a younger player a little further along than an 18-year-old,” MacTavish told reporters. “But at the same time, we hold those picks in very high value. We’re going to get some good players.

The Oilers will figure to have a top-five pick along with the Pittsburgh Penguins' first-rounder acquired in the David Perron deal.
There is no doubt that the Oilers are frustrated after to waiting on prospects to develop, with little return for nearly a decade.
Should they get the #1 Overall pick in the draft (McDavid), they could get a sizeable return for him in a trade. The question remains, would it be a good idea to trade him?
