Report: Major update in McAvoy negotiations with Bruins
Zuma Press

With so many high profile unsigned restricted free agents this offseason could have been dubbed the Summer of the RFA. Brayden Point, Mikko Rantanen, Mitch Marner, Charlie McAvoy, Matthew Tkachuk, Patrik Laine, Kyle Connor, Brock Boeser and others are STILL unsigned.

Now, with NHL training camps opening up this week the pressure is really on for the players to ink a deal and join their teammates. Zach Werenski inked a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this week and there are reports that Ivan Provorv will sign with the Philadelphia Flyers any day now. As for the Boston Bruins and Charlie McAvoy, well NHL insider Pierre McGuire reports that discussions between the two sides have picked up as of late after weeks of essentially no updates.

Check it out:

For the record Werenski signed a three year, $15 million deal worth $5 million per season. If the Bruins can get McAvoy signed to anything close to that they would likely be ecstatic. At the same time, why not lock him up longterm?

In any case, it appears the two sides are working to come to an agreement. Here’s hoping they can agree to terms without impacting training camp and the preseason.
