Barely 3 weeks removed from having part of his colon removed, David Backes has returned to the ice.
There's still no official timetable for his return, but this is excellent news for a Boston Bruins team in desperate need of its players to get healthy.
With injuries to Ryan Spooner, Brad Marchand, Adam McQuaid, Torey Krug and others throughout this season, some good news is very welcome in Boston this morning.
With 38 points in 74 games last season, Backes was slightly over a half-point-a-game on the year. The team will count on him to be able to bring similar production when he returns to the lineup.
