A rare comment from the Penguins owner.

On Wednesday former Penguin Matthew Barnaby made a controversial statement on Sirius XM radio, revealing that the relationship between Penguins owner Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby had soured. Barnaby even implied during his comments that the situation had reached the point where it could potentially push either Crosby or the Penguins to want a change.

As one would expect when such a bold statement is made, it's going to generate a response, and in a rare public comment Penguins owner Mario Lemieux sent a clear message.

"It's absolutely not true. It's silly, said Lemieux via the Penguins official twitter.

Crosby also responded to the rumor and also offered an explanation as to why it came up in the first place.

"I honestly don’t even know what to say to that. If people are going to make stuff up, it’s totally out of my control."

"I feel stupid even commenting on it. That’s ridiculous. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence when you’re struggling and the pts aren’t coming that something like that comes up, but in my experience that’s usually the case.

It seems that at the very least Lemieux and Crosby are on the same page when it comes to this topic.
