A bad break for the Flames.

A new clarification regarding expansion draft rules has resulted in some major headaches for National Hockey League general managers, but no team has had more players impacted by the ruling than the Calgary Flames.

To briefly summarize today's clarification, a number of players previously believed to have been ruled ineligible for the expansion draft have been exposed as potential expansion draft picks, those players are the following:

Anthony Mantha (Detroit Red Wings)

William Carrier (Buffalo Sabres)

 Emile Poirier (Calgary Flames)

Hunter Shinkaruk (Calgary Flames)

Ryan Hartman (Chicago Blackhawks)

Jonathan-Ismael Diaby (Nashville Predators)

Ryan Pulock (New York Islanders)

Kerby Rychel (Toronto Maple Leafs)

Unfortunately for the Flames they are the only team to have two new players exposed, and it's too early to tell how Flames' management will react to this change, if they chose to do anything at all. For a full break down of the ruling you can view the following report from Arthur Staple and General Fanager:
