According to a report from NHL insider Darren Dreger of TSN, cap strapped teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning could find themselves in serious salary cap trouble this offseason.

That’s because, again according to Dreger, the NHL and NHLPA are meeting today to discuss the league’s salary cap for 2019-20 which many believe will be lower than the $83 million which was projected earlier this year.

Check it out:

A salary cap of say $82 million will represent just a $2 million raise from the past season, not NEARLY enough for the cap-strapped teams mentioned above. With huge contracts coming for players like Mitch Marner and Brayden Point, there’s no doubt that NHL GM’s will be waiting with bated breath to hear news from the league and players’ association.
