Two 27-year-old National Hockey League players are headed to the waiver wire today.
First the New Jersey Devils have placed enforcer Dalton Prout on waivers and while we don't expect anyone will claim him and his $1,575,000 cap hit, however with teams starting to gear up for the playoffs it's not outside the realm of possibility.
Perhaps more interesting however is the fact that the Anaheim Ducks have placed veteran center Dennis Rasmussen on waivers, and considering just how many teams are searching for depth at center there may be some who choose to take a look.
While Rasmussen clearly is not a world beater, the fact that he comes with a very cheap cap hit of just $725,000 and has no term on his contract after this season makes him an extremely low-risk option.
We of course won't know if either of these players are claimed officially until Friday.
