This could be a nasty breakup..
According to a report from TSN insider Farhan Lalji the Vancouver Canucks will be dismissing head coach Adam Foote once they wrap up the regular season later this week.
Foote signed a three year contract worth a reported $1.5 million per season less than a year ago. This was his first season as the team's head coach after three years as the team's assistant coach under Rick Tocchet. He was reportedly handpicked by former Canucks captain Quinn Hughes in an apparent effort to convince Hughes to sign a long-term contract with the team.
With Hughes now gone and with things going about as poorly as they could under Foote, it makes sense for the Canucks to cut bait on Foote.
What's interesting is that the Canucks have one of the hottest coaching prospects in the hockey world with AHL Abbotsford Canucks head coach Manny Malhotra. Don't be surprised if Malhotra receives a promotion to the NHL's Canucks this upcoming offseason.
