In Friday’s chippy matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks, Habs forward Andrew Shaw may have taken things a bit too far.

While sitting in the penalty box next to Ducks defenseman Kevin Bieksa, Shaw appeared to make an homophobic slur that rhymes with “tucking tag”, check it out:

Now, according the TSN analyst and NHL insider Darren Dreger, the NHL has reviewed the tape and decided that no line has been crossed and no further discipline will be handed out.

No line was crossed? If Shaw did in fact say what it appeared he said, it’s hard to argue that he didn’t cross the line. Remember that Shaw was also suspended a game when he was a member of the Chicago Blackhawks for making a similar remark to an NHL official. At the time, Shaw owned up to his remarks saying,

“I am sincerely sorry for the insensitive remarks that I made last night while in the penalty box. I apologize to many people, including the gay and lesbian community, the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Blackhawks fans and anyone else I may have offended. I know my words were hurtful and I will learn from my mistake.”

Doesn’t appear so…
