The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that forward Jordan Staal and defenseman Justin Faulk will share the captaincy for the 2017-17 campaign. The team decided to forgo having a captain last season after the departure of long-time captain Eric Staal to the New York Rangers via trade the preceding trade deadline.

Interestingly enough, the Hurricanes will employ a strategy whereby both Staal and Faulk which each wear the “C” for 41 games of the regular season. Should the team qualify for the playoffs, a determination will be made on who will captain the team at that point.

Suffice to say, it’s an interesting arrangement in Carolina this season. What do you think of this move?
