We certainly hope all of Pascal Dupuis's ambitions come to pass. The popular Pittsburgh Penguins forward hasn’t played since Nov. 15 after suffering through blood clots since the beginning of last year. He managed to record 11 points in 16 games for a Penguins squad who could have used his scoring punch heading into the playoffs, especially considering Dupuis has 44 career playoff points in 97 games. Blood clots are extremely dangerous for athletes as their elevated blood pressure and flow during competitive play can cause the clots to travel throughout the rest of the body. With the Penguins’ playoff run over, he’s waiting to find out what the future holds. “Well, if you ask me, I thought I was going to play again this year,” Dupuis said when asked if he would return next season. “I’m going to say I’m going to play next year, but it’s not up to me right now.” The period of time he was scheduled to be on blood thinners is coming to an end. Once that’s done, he can undergo testing to determine if he has a blood disorder. He has been on the ice a lot lately and has been feeling great. He was even thinking that he might have been able to play in the Stanley Cup Final had Pittsburgh gotten that far. Hopefully he can make it back for next season as he is one of those players you would hate to see retire early.
