Veteran forward Corey Perry is now a free agent after having been placed on waivers and his contract being subsequently terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks after an investigation found that he “has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation both of the terms of his Standard Player’s Contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments.”
Perry has since offered an apology and stated that he's seeking help from mental health and alcohol abuse specialists. Could the Edmonton Oilers and general manager Ken Holland come calling once he completes his treatment?
According to journalist Jim Matheson, don't be surprised to see Holland consider bringing Perry aboard to give an additional spark to the Oilers, who stumbled out of the gate this season and are working to get themselves back into playoff contention:
