Emergence of youth has made him expendable
According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, Teddy Purcell doesn't seem to fit into Oilers master plans.
"GM Peter Chiarelli has a youth movement with a guy named Connor McDavid and Purcell isn’t going to fit into future plans. He makes $4.5 million this season and the Oilers have certainly shown in the past they don’t keep players who are becoming UFA’s." Garrioch said.
The Oilers are reorganizing with a young roster but definitely have skilled young forwards in Connor McDavid, Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Nail Yakupov and Leon Draisaitl.
Purcell only recorded 12 goals and 34 points in 82 games last season with the Oilers.
