Just figure it out, Bowman! It's literally your job to manage the cap!
Goaltending has been an issue for the Edmonton Oilers this season.
Just as it was last season. And the season before. And the season before. And the season before.
In fact, for Connor McDavid's entire career, the Oilers have had a problem with their goaltending. The last time the team had true stability in net was probably under Dwayne Roloson. For a true star goaltender in Edmonton though you probably have to go back to the late 1990's when they employed Curtis Joseph between the pipes.
Something's gotta give... right?
With the likes of Juuse Saros and Jordan Binnington available on the trade market, surely GM Stan Bowman will fix things right?
Think again.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that, yeah, Saros and Binnington would help the Oilers as would the likes of Elvis Merzlikins and Ukka-Pekka Luukonen, but give the Oilers' salary cap and the fact that each of those goaltenders cost over $5 million against the salary cap, they're just not "attainable" for Bowman.
From Pagnotta:
Are you kidding me!?
Your team has a glaring deficiency, a deficiency that has already cost you two Stanley Cup championships, and you can't clear up $5 million in cap space!?
It's literally your job, Stan! Make it happen!
