The Edmonton Oilers were humiliated against the St. Louis Blues last night, losing the contest 8-3 and registered a third consecutive defeat. The Canadian team appears to be running out of time to try to get its season on track and some fans are worried the playoff picture is moving away.

Former NHL forward and TSN Hockey analyst Dave Poulin believes fans are right to worry since the Oilers' run is more serious than just a rough start. He predicts the team won't make it to the post-season.

"This is not just a rough start anymore, this is a bad hockey team," Poulin says.

Poulin adds that the only player who is giving the Oilers a chance is captain Connor McDavid, though his teammates are too busy looking at him try his best. And yet, Poulin confirms that the blame lands on the poor captain's shoulders.

"Every scoring chance they get, Connor McDavid is in on it. He's either making the play or taking the puck to the net himself. And when you see that consistently you start asking yourself 'where is everybody else?'"

"When you watch the depth of the team, it's just hallow right now."

The Oilers are already seven points out of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference and Poulin strongly believes the playoff dream is already dead.

"There are too many teams to jump over! They are three points away from the Arizona Coyotes, who had one of the worst starts in history of the NHL."
