While everyone is focused on the number one overall pick Connor McDavid the team actually drafting him is focusing their sights on their other picks in the draft. Bob Green, the Edmonton Oilers' director of player personnel, joined Jason Gregor on TSN 1260 on Wednesday and it was clear right from the get go that he and the Oilers have a very specific plan for the draft. The Oilers intend to draft big physical players in order to get bigger and stronger, something they feel will be necessary to compete within their division. After picking McDavid the Oilers also draft 16th overall and have a pair of second round picks as well and it appears that newly appointed GM Peter Chiarelli may have brought over a little bit of Boston's philosophy to Edmonton. Green of course would not name any players specifically but there are several players who fit his description in this relatively deep draft and fans in Edmonton may be looking at a much different team, both in terms of personnel and style in the next few years.
