The team chose not to include his name on the Cup.
The Chicago Blackhawks made the decision to omit the name of one of their players from this year's Stanley Cup Trophy. It's a pretty damning statement on their relationship with the former Blackhawk.
Although perhaps it should come as little surprise given that he stated earlier this summer that he wished his team had been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, the fact that Antti Raanta's name will not appear on the Cup will shock many.
Raanta was reportedly disgruntled after he lost the back up job to Scott Darling, who frankly won the job through his stellar player, and that eventually to the comments he made about his team being publish in a Finnish newspaper.
While technically Raanta did not meet the requirements to have his name on the Cup, other players such as Daniel Carcillo and Joakim Nordstrom received exemptions and were included on the trophy.
