Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman leaked some juicy contract information from negotiations between the St. Louis Blues and 24 year-old defender Colton Parayko and it doesn’t paint the Blues and GM Doug Armstrong in a good light.
Check it out:
$7 million over two years for Parayko? Compare that offer to the deal recently signed by Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin that pays him $37.1 million over seven years and Parayko has to consider his team’s offer an insult to his abilities. For what it’s worth, Parayko’s demand is woefully low, as well. Maybe the Blues have sucked the confidence out of this kid already?
In any case, the two sides still have time to resolve their differences ahead of their arbitration date set for Thursday afternoon. What do you think is a fair price for the cornerstone defenseman? Most teams would be happy to lock this kid up long term.
