A great deal for the team.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have secured a big piece of their future on the blue line.
On Friday the team announced that they had made a major commitment to their 21 year old defenseman Olli Maata, by signing him to a six year contract extension. The Penguins also announced the terms of the deal, which will earn Maatta an average of $4.083 million annually.
Maatta has been extremely valuable for Pittsburgh, playing big minutes on the teams top defensive pairing alongside veteran Kris Letang, and while it's a long commitment to a player who has had some injury/medical issues the Penguins and their fans have to happy that Maatta will anchor their blue line at a very reasonable price for the forseeable future.
