A very good sign for New York.

The Rangers lost more than just the a shot at the Stanley Cup during their most recent playoff run, they also lost one of their heart and soul players in Ryna McDonagh.

McDonagh suffered a broken foot in the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and there were some serious doubts about just how long of a recovery he would need in order to return.

McDonagh recently spoke with NHL.com and while his comments make it clear he hasn't fully recovered quite yet, he's almost as good as can be.

"It's safe to say it's getting better every day and feeling pretty much 100 percent at this point now," said McDonagh. "We said June 1 was the starting date, so we're more than two-and-a-half months in. I'm back skating on the ice, doing leg strength stuff in the weight room, running and jumping. I'm really trying to put it all behind me now and gear up here for the start of training camp."

It's very good news for the Rangers who are already up against the cap and need as many of their players as possible healthy and ready for training camp. If there was any doubt as to McDonagh's condition he also cleared that up by indicating he was already hard at work with Octagon Sports.

"There should be no issues now," he said. "We've got a big Octagon agency skating camp going on right now with 60-something guys skating every day, and there is really no soreness anymore after skating. It's been exciting. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again."
