Don’t look now but Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist is having himself a career seasons… just in time to cash in via free agency this upcoming offseason. Because of his strong play, 15 goals and 49 points in 59 games, his pending free agent status and because the Red Wings have fallen completely out of the playoff race, many fans and analysts expect Nyquist to be a hot commodity on the NHL trade market between now and next Monday’s trade deadline.

It would appear that the Red Wings are also planning for an eventual trade, as they have reportedly requested Nyquist’s trade list.

Nyquist holds a partial no-trade clause and has to present the team with a list of teams that he WOULD accept a trade to, it’s unclear how big or small that list it, however.

The 29 year old winger could provide a boost to several Playoff teams and has had his name linked to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators. Don’t be surprised if the career Red Wing suits up for a new team to close out the 2018-19 campaign.
