Despite the fact that the Buffalo Sabres have not yet named a new general manager since the decision was made to terminate former general manager Tim Murray, the Sabres managed to get a deal done on Wednesday.

The team announced that they had officially come to terms on an entry-level contract with former fifth round draft pick Devante Stephens, a defenseman for the WHL's Kelowna Rockets.

From the Sabres:

Buffalo's fifth-round pick (122nd overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft, Stephens has recorded 57 points (19+38) and a plus-56 rating in 203 career WHL games. The Surrey, British Columbia native has added 11 assists and a plus-6 rating in 46 career WHL playoff games.

Very interesting to see the team making moves, even minor ones, without having first put a general manager in place.
