Team USA forward Nick Schmaltz reacted a few days after he took a vicious hit from Sweden's Gabriel Landeskog, during the IIHF World Championships on Monday. He immediately left the game and did not return.

Just like pretty much everyone who watched the game, Schmaltz couldn't believe Landeskog wasn't penalized on the play:

Since then, the Colorado Avalanche forward apologized to Schmaltz via text message. The latter appreciates the gesture and does not hold any grudge against his opponent:


Schmaltz was the Chicago Blackhawks' 2014 first-round pick. He recorded six goals and 28 points in 61 games last season in the NHL.
