Report: Sens make roster moves, Karlsson back?

One top prospect down, one superstar in?

The Ottawa Senators have announced that they’ve re-assigned defenceman Thomas Chabot to the AHL’s Belleville Senators and forward Alex Formenton to the OHL’s London Knights.

The moves, particularly the demotion of Chabot, are surprising if looking at the team’s roster as it currently stands. A defence group led of Dion Phaneuf, Johnny Oduya and Cody Ceci isn’t likely to strike fear into the hearts of the opposition. So, might this mean that captain Erik Karlsson could make a return to the team’s lineup for Tuesday’s home game against the Vancouver Canucks

Karlsson underwent surgery late in the offseason to repair tendons in his ankle that were injured during the Sens’ run to the Eastern Conference Final. While the team or player have yet to tip their hand on a definitive return date, don’t be surprised if he makes his season debut on Tuesday night.
