Reporters throwing around terms like "worst case scenario"...
UPDATE: The New York Rangers have moved goaltender Igor Shesterkin to Injured Reserve following last night's injury in a collission with Utah Mammoth forward JJ Peterka.
Incidentally, the Rangers have also moved star defenseman Adam Fox to Long-Term Injured Reserve.
I will admit... the first report I saw on Shesterkin was from ESPN's Emily Kaplan who used the term "worst case scenario" in her update which threw me for a loop at first.
Check it out:
That get you too?
Just me?
In any case, there's a chance that indeed Shesterkin may be moved to LTIR which would indeed be a worst case scenario for the Rangers. But any way you look at it, having both Shesterkin and Fox out of the lineup for any length of time is absolutely disastrous for the Rangers.
Read below for last night's report on Shesterkin's injury.
New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin has left tonight's game against the Utah Mammoth after suffering what appeared to be a pretty gruesome knee injury.
Shesterkin appeared to twist his right knee after a collision with Mammoth forward JJ Peterka and left the ice being carried off by teammates and his team's training staff.

No official word from Rangers staff on the severity of Shesterkin's injury just yet, but... well... it looked bad.
If this is indeed a significant injury to Shesterkin then I think you can write off the Rangers' 2025-26 season, if you hadn't already.
