Are we on the verge of seeing a truly aggressive summer by Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman?

One could argue that the summer of 2022 was his first "busy" summer on the job, as he made multiple acquisitions on the free agent market along with trading for goaltender Ville Husso. It seemed as though those pickups would lead to a postseason spot, and at one point in the season, the Red Wings were in a Wild Card spot.

Two devastating losses to the Ottawa Senators later and it was essentially over; Yzerman once again sold at the NHL Trade Deadline and Detroit missed the playoffs for a 7th straight year. Needless to say, there are some within the fan base who are starting to feel a bit impatient, and feeling that the rebuilding process should be further along by now.

Are we gearing up to see some even more "aggressive" moves from Yzerman this summer? That's the mindset right now, allegedly per NHL Insider Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff.

One player the Red Wings have been linked to is Michigan native Alex DeBrincat, who is a two-time 40 goal scorer and reportedly looking to leave his current team in the Ottawa Senators.
