A veteran coach has gotten the attention of one team.
TSN's Darren Dreger reports that the San Jose Sharks are very interested in hiring former New Jersey Devils coach Peter DeBoer. He has been granted a second interview by Sharks general manager Doug Wilson and his management team.
DeBoer comes with six-and-a-half seasons of NHL coaching experience and holds an overall 217-200-77 record with the Devils and Florida Panthers. He led the Devils to an improbable Stanley Cup Final in his first campaign but missed the playoffs the two following years. He was fired by New Jersey after a slow start to the season.
Wilson needs a new head coach after letting long-time coach Todd McLellan go after the Sharks missed the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons.
Is DeBoer the man for the job?
