The decision from Team Russia came later than that of some of the other major countries that will be represented in the World Cup of Hockey but on Wednesday the finally announced their captain for the tournament.

There was some belief that forward Pavel Datsyuk would wear the "C" as the coach for the team is the same man who made Datsyuk captain of SKA St. Petersberg in the KHL, but in the end they chose to go with Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin, a decision that is unlikely to be met with too many objections.

Ovechkin will be flanked on the ice by two other highly talented and highly skilled forwards wearing the "A." Joining him in the leadership duties on the ice will the aforementioned Pavel Datsyuk as well as Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin.
