The Ottawa Senators' push for the playoffs are inspiring to more than just their fanbase as a whole. General manager Bryan Murray, who is battling stage four colon cancer, believes his team's impressive 25-4-4 run is helping him through his ordeal. "My sister actually texted me and she was talking about the game (Tuesday) and asked me how I was feeling because she knows I had chemo yesterday," Murray told Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen on Wednesday. "Well, you don’t sleep the night after you have chemo but I feel pretty good today because of the team." Murray, who has been the GM of the Senators since 2007 and was a member of Stanley Cup runs with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks, admitted that he has never witnessed a streak like the one Ottawa is currently experiencing. "I’ve been in the game a long time and I don’t know that I’ve experienced this type of run with any team," Murray said. "The character they’ve shown, the no quit ability, all those words." If the Senators can somehow overtake the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings or Pittsburgh Penguins - who they trail closely for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference - Murray thinks his team will a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs. "I think we’ll be a dangerous team if we get in, I really do," Murray said. "The confidence this group has gained, the work ethic we have – just get in. We’ll present ourselves pretty well." Ottawa has two games left on the season, and are scheduled to play the Presidents' Trophy-winning New York Rangers Thursday before closing out their season against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
