Michel Therrien might have been fired by the Montreal Canadiens in their week off this past February, he has turned the page on the past.
He is now looking to the future, with specific plans in mind. In an interview with The Athletic, Therrien revealed what his aspirations are for the upcoming season, and what aren't.
When Pierre LeBrun asked him if he'd "contemplate one day going the associate coach route", Therrien did not hesitate.
“It’s still fresh, I still want to keep my option open to be a head coach,” Therrien said. “Hopefully it’s going to happen, I believe it’s going to happen. That’s my only focus right now.
“I’ve received offers to work in the media, but I want to focus on one thing: coming back as a head coach.”
Therrien will look closely at NHL games this season to be ready if ever the phone rings about a new opportunity behind the bench of a team.
