Report: Update on Matthews' injury status

Auston Matthews missed his first game of the season against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night, and he may not be out of the woods yet.

Top insider Pierre LeBrun believes that Matthews could be out for at least the weekend, and that may be the best course of action for the team's franchise centerman.

Despite that potentially bad news, Kevin Weekes of NHL.com has reached out to his sources and the news does not appear at all dire in the superstar's case.

Toronto won their tilt against Minnesota without Matthews by a score of 4-2.

Matthews has 19 points in 16 games to date.
