More than Kaprizov?!
According to a report from NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Vegas Golden Knights and superstar forward Jack Eichel are nearing an agreement on a new 8 year contract.
From LeBrun on TSN's 'Insider Trading' segment this evening:
"He (Eichel) does not want to go anywhere. His only focus is on signing with the Vegas Golden Knights. The two sides I'm told are really focused on an 8 year deal. So forget the idea of mimicking McDavid and doing a two year deal. Eichel wants to sign long-term and in the meantime they've just got to get to the right AAV. I'm told that the Kaprizov deal and the McDavid deal... those are not big impacts on this conversation."
According to LeBrun, the NHL record eight-year, $136-million contract signed by Kirill Kaprizov and the two-year, $25-million extension recently signed by Connor McDavid aren't affecting negotiations.
Eichel is in the final season of an eight-year, $80-million contract he signed with the Buffalo Sabres in 2017. Vegas acquired him in a 2021 blockbuster trade with Buffalo.
