Report: Vegas GM fires a warning shot across the entire NHL

With the NHL Expansion Draft just one more day away, all eyes are on Vegas Golden Knights general manager George McPhee. As teams scramble to make trades so as to minimize the impact of the expansion draft on their roster, McPhee has turned up the heat and issued a deadline for player transactions with his club.

According the Sportsnet senior writer Chris Johnston, today will be the final day for teams to make a deal with Vegas for the purposes of player protection.

This is huge. What McPhee has effectively done is light a fire under the butts of 30 other NHL GM’s and has forced them into making their best possible proposition ASAP. Any posturing, tire kicking or “feeling out” likely won’t be tolerated by McPhee and the management group in Vegas.

It’s understandable, given the incredible amount of work ahead of the NHL’s newest franchise in such a short period of time.
