This is actually some really smart thinking from GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.
According to a report from Winnipeg Jets insider Ken Wiebe, the team is set to sign former NHL goaltender Chris Driedger.
Driedger recently walked away from his KHL contract with Chelyabinsk Traktor, amidst speculation that he would like to return to North America. He's a Winnipeg native and he played five games for the Jets' AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose last season. He last played in the NHL in 2024 with the Seattle Kraken.
The Jets, of course, are desperate for some goaltending depth after superstar netminder Connor Hellebuyck went down with injury last week.
