Report: Witkowski and Blashill make surprising statements about suspension

Following the news that Luke Witkowski of the Detroit Red Wings was suspended for 10 games, head coach Jeff Blashill spoke out in regards to the NHL's harsh ruling.

Blashill may have a point - while the rules are clear on the matter, do they reflect the severity of the incident accurately? That is to say, should a player get 10 games for this type of situation when a player can get less for dangerously hitting someone in the head with a cheap shot?

Witkowski, for his part, also voiced a complaint.

His complaint carries much less validity to it than Blashill's - just because you don't know a rule, or a law, doesn't mean you won't face the consequences for breaking it.
