It has already been a transformative offseason in Edmonton. General manager Stan Bowman has worked on virtually every aspect of the Oilers' roster, from the blue line to the crease and beyond. But according to recent reports, the front office may still have another significant move up its sleeve.

Bowman has reportedly hinted that the Oilers could be in the market for yet another forward before the season begins.

The summer's activity has been relentless. Edmonton parted ways with defenseman Darnell Nurse, sending him to the San Jose Sharks in a trade that signaled a clear shift in direction. The goaltending tandem was completely rebuilt with the additions of Frederik Andersen and Devon Levi, giving the Oilers a fresh look between the pipes.

On the forward front, Bowman brought in Mathieu Joseph and Ryan Shea through free agency, adding depth and versatility to the lineup. Still, the sense around the organization is that the work is not yet complete.

The urgency behind these moves is impossible to ignore. Connor McDavid's current contract situation looms over everything the Oilers do. Edmonton reportedly understands that sustained on-ice success is critical to ensuring the franchise cornerstone remains in Oil Country long term.

That pressure has seemingly fueled Bowman's aggressive approach this summer, and it may drive at least one more acquisition before training camp opens.

Fan speculation has been running hot online. Some supporters believe the Oilers could circle back to a familiar name, with Evander Kane's name surfacing in online discussions. Others have suggested the team needs a right-handed sniper or another forward or two depending on how younger players like Howard develop. None of those claims have been confirmed by the organization.

What is clear is that Bowman has shown no hesitation in making bold decisions since taking the reins. The Nurse trade alone would have defined most GMs' offseasons, but Edmonton's front office has treated it as just one piece of a much larger puzzle.

The offseason is soon coming to an end, but Bowman might pull the trigger on another deal before the puck drops, with McDavid's future in Edmonton potentially hanging in the balance.
