Fans felt confident when the Philadelphia Flyers announced the hiring of head coach Alain Vigneault for the upcoming season. Some questions are however being asked now that the team announced on Monday that Mike Yeo and Michel Therrien are joining the NHL club as assistants.

Vigneault announced Monday that Therrien and Yeo will join returning coaches Ian Laperriere, Kim Dillabaugh and Adam Patterson on his staff. While fans in Philly might believe these are signs of a breath of fresh air and success coming to town, one insider believes it’s showing signs of uncertainty for the Flyers.

On Tuesday, NBC Sports’ Pierre McGuire described the hirings of Yeo and Therrien under Vigneault a “funky situation in Philly during an interview on TSN 1200.

He added that we better keep an eye out on the team for the 2019-20, saying it could be interesting how the relationship between Vigneault and the two former NHL coaches plays out.

Vigneault, who has led the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers to Stanley Cup final appearances in the past, is being tasked to lead the Flyers there for the first time since 1975.

If he fails to, he has to feel the pressure of his assistants able to take over his spot at any time…
