Reports of a goalie trade coming out of Boston

Surely the rebuild is fully on now, right?

The 2025-26 season is likely to be a pivotal one for the Boston Bruins.

After missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade in 2024-25, the team is staring down the barrel of another difficult season this fall and will be hard pressed to get back into the post-season. Fans and analysts are predicting the Bruins to take another step back in 2025-26, maybe forcing GM Don Sweeney into a full-scale rebuild?

And what better way to kick off a rebuild then with a good, old fashioned goalie trade?

Bruins insider Jimmy Murphy has reported for weeks now that the Bruins are taking offers on Czech forward Pavel Zacha, but just yesterday Murphy reported that the team is also taking offers on backup goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, as well.

"Trade rumors continue to surround the Boston Bruins, with Joonas Korpisalo and Pavel Zacha's names consistently coming up," Murphy reports.

Here's the thing...

OF COURSE they're trying to trade Korpisalo! His contract stinks!

He's in year three of a five year contract that pays him $4 million annually and he's playing on his fourth team in five years. Yikes...

If the Bruins can find a team desperate enough to take Korpisalo and his contract of their hands, they should absolutely take the deal and run.
