Reports of Bertuzzi re-signing in Boston for an absolute steal of a deal!

This could be one of the best contracts in the NHL. How do the Bruins continue to do this?

It's been a roller coaster season for fans of the Boston Bruins.

Sure, the team put together literally the best regular season in NHL history, but they followed it up with a disappointing first round playoff loss to the 17th ranked Florida Panthers.

It wasn't all bad news for the B's in the post-season though as recently acquired forward Tyler Bertuzzi emerged as a potential core piece for the team moving forward... that is, of course, if the Bruins can get him under contract.

Bertuzzi is a pending unrestricted free agent and is free to sign anywhere come July 1st, but the Bruins would be wise to retain him based on what he showed during his short stretch with the team. The 28 year old winger put up five goals and 10 points in the Bruins' 7 game series against the Panthers after putting up four goals and 16 points in 21 regular season games with the Bruins.

With Brad Marchand creeping closer and closer into retirement age, Bertuzzi looks like a perfect replacement for now and for the future in that role for the Bruins. So... what's it gonna cost?

NHL insider Frank Seravalli reports that he believes the Bruins could get Bertuzzi signed on a five or six year deal worth just $5.25 million per season. Personally, I feel like that's an absolute STEAL. Bertuzzi is arguably the best available free agent this offseason and I feel he could generate as much as $7 million or more per season on the open market. But, frankly, after wasting the majority of his NHL career playing for a non-contender in Detroit, I could see Bertuzzi committing to a contender like the Bruins for a bit of a discount.

What do you think, B's fans?

Bertuzzi on a six year deal at $5.25 million? Good deal?
