Reports of tryout reportedly false, veteran forward instead contemplating retirement.

There were some rumors floating around suggesting that veteran forward Shawn Horcoff had been offered a PTO with the Edmonton Oilers, however it appears those rumors were false.

According to Edmonton Oilers insider Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal the rumors could not be further from the truth, not only is Horcoff not trying out of the Oilers, but he won't be auditioning for anyone at all. Matheson has instead claimed that Horcoff is contemplating his retirement something that has been floating around the rumor for several weeks now as well.

While Matheson is not by any means an official team source, when it comes to the Oilers he's usually spot on, and you can bet that if he's expressing himself with this level of certainty, there's no way Horcoff is coming to Edmonton on a tryout.
