This makes absolutely zero sense!

It's no secret that the marriage between Steven Stamkos and the Nashville Predators has been a rocky one.

The 35 year old future Hall of Famer has just one goal and two points through 11 games so far this season, after just a 53 point season in 2024-25. He's only in year two of a four year deal that pays him $8 million annually and there are reports that the Predators are desperately trying to get out of the deal.

So... with all that in mind, there's certainly not a team who would want to take on Stamkos via trade, right?

Ah, but of course the Vancouver Canucks exist and and making bad decisions seems to be their M.O.

Today, Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal reported that the Canucks "are poking around on Stamkos."

Fellow Canucks insider Cam Robinson corroborated that he has heard the same thing, but he's unsure how serious the team is about acquiring Stamkos.

From Robinson:

Talk about a risky proposition for a team that cannot afford to make any mistakes. Perfectly on brand for the Canucks, right?
