Reports that Trump offended Team USA with crass comments in post-game speech

And as a result they will not be attending the White House.

This just in, the gold medal winning American Women's Hockey team has reportedly declined President Donald Trump's White House invitation.

Trump formally invited the women to his State of the Union address on Tuesday, but the team has informed him today that they will be unable to attend.

A spokesperson for the team told NBC News' Monica Alba that the team, which won the gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, was "sincerely grateful" for the recognition, but the players are unable to attend "due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments."

Trump, of course, also extended the same invitation to the U.S. men's team but it remains unclear if the players will be able to attend the invite.

You have to wonder though, if Trump's comments about the women's team while on call with the men's team has anything to do with the women's decision to sit this one out.

In case you missed it, Trump spoke to the men's team in the dressing room after their gold medal win via a speakerphone call with FBI Director Kash Patel when Trump said he'd have to invite the women's team because if he didn't invite them, "he'd probably be impeached."

Here's Trump's call with the team:

The full line was, "I must tell you, we're going to have to bring the women's team, you do know that? I do believe I would probably be impeached if I didn't."

Obviously Trump is joking with a line like that, but that hasn't stopped controversy from bubbling up. Some online are speculating that it's that comment that made the women's team decline Trump's invite, but... let's get real. The fact is that these women has lives and jobs to get back to and, as they say in their statement, they're grateful for the invite but simply can't make the logistics work.
