Retired NHL star says ugly rumors about P.K. Subban had some truth to them.

While there were a ton of rumors going around this summer surrounding the motive behind the trade of star defenseman P.K. Subban, to no one's surprise players were unwilling to speak on the record, and they have as a result remained rumors.

However now a retired National Hockey League player, one with very close ties to the city of Montreal, has spoken out about those rumors. In a recent French language interview with 98.5 Sports transcribed by Habs insider Marco Normandin former NHL superstar Daniel Briere stated that he believed the rumors were true.

"I was not surprised as a result of the rumors circulating. It's not a secret that P.K. Subban wasn't unanimously appreciated by all his teammates. There was some truth behind the rumors.

It sounds like Briere also believes that at least right now Weber is the better of the two players, and that along with the aforementioned factors makes this a decision that understands.
