Fans begin to turn on Tocchet as issues with Michkov continue.
The Philadelphia Flyers may have a genuine problem on their hands as issues between head coach Rick Tocchet and star forward Matvei Michkov just simply refuse to go away.
The Flyers are coming off of a big win over their bitter rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night, a win that featured Michkov back on his natural side as a right winger. The move seemed like an obvious one given that Michkov has played the right side for the majority of his professional hockey career, and it produced results with Michkov picking up an assist as the Flyers earned a 4-3 victory over the Penguins.
Tocchet, who has often butted heads with Michkov this season, however bizarrely seems to believe that Michkov on the right wing may not be a good long term solution.
"Well, Bobby leaving, and then Mich wants to try it. We'll see. I've got my thoughts on that, but we'll see how it goes," said Tocchet of Michkov's move to right wing.
Tocchet's response seems to have been the final straw for many Flyers fans with angry comments flooding in, with some even demanding that Tocchet be fired over his handling of Michkov this season.
Here are just a few notable examples:
Fans in Philadelphia seem to be running out of patience with Tocchet on this matter and, to make matters worse for the Flyers head coach, they now appear to be the majority.
