Rick Tocchet makes it clear changes are coming after the Flyers lose in Game 4.
The Philadelphia Flyers have gotten off to an incredible start in their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but after things did not go their way in Game 4 of that series it sounds like there may already be changes on the horizon.
Following the conclusion of the game, Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet was critical of his team's effort through the first half of the game. While Tocchet's comments were nothing out of the ordinary, what did stand out was a clear indication that Tocchet wasn't happy with the play of certain players in the Flyers lineup.
"We'll look at some video and we'll figure out who we're gonna get in the lineup for the next game," said Tocchet during his post-game comments.
Tocchet making it clear after 3 wins and a single loss in the series that changes are coming was an indication that he wasn't happy with some of his players, although Tocchet refrained from going into specifics.
"A few adjustments, I don't think it's major." said Tocchet. "Throwing pucks away too much... I didn't see much digging early from some guys and we gotta make sure that right from the beginning we gotta dig off the bat."
There has been speculation that Tocchet may have been referring to Flyers forward Matvei Michkov, with whom Tocchet has clashed throughout the season, specifically when it comes to his comments about throwing the puck away. Benching Michkov during the regular season and doing so in the playoffs is a completely different beast and I personally would be surprised to see Tocchet risk going down that path this early.
